Frequently asked questions

QCan I swap just one radiator on my system or would I need to change them all?
A

On an existing system you can replace all the radiators or just the ones you want.

QCan your radiators be used with a combination boiler?
A

Yes, any kind of central heating boiler can be used with our radiators.

QAre your radiators suitable for my existing central heating system?
A

Yes, unless your system is very unusual e.g. steam rather than water.  All of our central heating radiators are compatible with normal central heating systems and have British Standard fittings. On an existing system you can replace all the radiators or just the ones you want.

QThe radiator I want has not got enough output for my room, what can I do?
A

Depending on the range, you can select an alternative model with more panels, columns or convectors to increase output within the same space.

QWill a designer radiator be compatible with my existing central heating system?
A

Yes. Designer radiators have common pipe fittings, the same as standard radiators. You can fit a designer radiator in your home, and it will work alongside standard radiators. Alternatively, you could fit designer radiators in your whole house, the choice is completely yours!

QWhat is a thermostatic radiator valve?
A

A Thermostatic Radiator Valve (TRV) is a type of radiator valve that gives you greater control over the heat in each room. Each TRV can be set to a temperature to suit you, so you can have different temperatures in different rooms.

QMy radiator does not heat all the way to the top?
A

For vertical radiators: The radiator could be upside down. Please check for baffle sticker and ensure the baffle is at the flow/return side. If the radiator is not upside down, ensure it is not air locked by balancing and venting the radiator,

For horizontal radiators with 4 way connection, ensure that the radiator is not air locked. In order to release air inside, you should balance and vent the radiator.

QWhere is the best place to site my radiator / do I have to place my radiators under windows?
A

While convention says the best place to site radiators is under a window so the air warms up the cold air as it penetrates through the glass, with today’s buildings and the addition of double glazing this is not necessary. It has become more a personal preference or for a practical reason when making this decision.

QDo you offer the option of specification radiators?
A

Our commercial division, Merriott, offers the option on specification radiators. You can find out more on their site.
